The Ilyon Chronicles Pt. 1- Resistance

READ TO THE END OF THIS POST SO YOU DON’T MISS OUT ON A GREAT DEAL!*

Hey y’all! So in just a few weeks the 5th book in my favorite series is being released and I am SOOOO excited!!!!! The book, Bitter Winter, by Jaye L.  Knight is apart of the Ilyon Chronicles. It is an absolutely INCREDIBLE series that you MUST READ!!!! So to celebrate the release, which is December 15, each week leading up to the release I will do a review on each book of the series. So this week I will do a review on Resistance which is the first book, next week I will do a review on the second, and so forth. So without further ado let’s get on to the review!!

Here is the blurb for Resistance from Goodreads:

“Don’t you know? Animals like you have no soul.”Could God ever love a half-blood all of society looks upon with such fear and disdain? Jace once believed so, but when a tragic loss shatters the only peace he’s ever known, his faith crumbles as the nagging doubts he’s tried to put behind him descend on his grieving heart. With them come the haunting memories of the bloodstained past he longs to forget, but can never escape.Taken from home at a young age and raised to serve the emperor, Kyrin Altair lives every day under a dangerous pretense of loyalty. After her unique observation skills and perfect memory place her into direct service to the emperor, Kyrin finds herself in further jeopardy as it becomes increasingly difficult to hide her belief in Elôm, the one true God.Following the emperor’s declaration to enforce the worship of false gods under the penalty of death, many lives are endangered. But there are those willing to risk everything to take a stand and offer aid to the persecuted. With their lives traveling paths they never could have imagined, Jace and Kyrin must fight to overcome their own fears and conflicts with society as they become part of the resistance.

Doesn’t that just sound so awesome!!!!! IT’S ALL SO BEAUTIFUL I DON’T EVEN KNOW HOW I’M GOING TO PUT INTO WORDS!!! This book is LITERALLY EVERYTHING you would want in a book!!! It’s fantasy, action, adventure, quality characters, and great theology ALL IN ONE!!!

There are battles, daring rescues, tortured backstories, hopeful/redeemed futures, quality characters, loveable pets like DRAGONS, and fantastical worlds!!

IT’S ALL JUST SO FUN AND EXCITING AND BEAUTIFUL ASDFGHJKLSDFGHL

OK so let’s go over all the wonderful beans and cinnamon rolls in this book

Kyrin: SHE IS SO AMAZING OMW I LOVE THIS GIRL SO MUCH!! I love how she is so strong and brave! She is so confident in Christ even when she faces the worst of fates, she trusts God and follows Him. She is so kind and caring! She is so gentle and protective of Meredith, and later on Jace, and it is just so awesome to watch!! She never gives up even when everything seems hopeless. But she is also not afraid to cry, she has her ups and her downs and struggles just like everyone else. In her weakness she finds strength through Christ and it is so inspiring!!

Kaden: KADEN THOUGH OH GOLLY!! HE IS SUCH AN ADORABLE LITTLE BEAN!! Seriously though WHERE CAN I GET A BRO LIKE KADEN?!?!? Kaden is so awesome because he is just so optimistic and fun! Lots of girls are in love with him but he is just in love with food so it’s great. He is very protective and kind! It’s so adorable! Oh he is Kyrin’s twin brother btw! He is just a fun-loving, trustworthy, food-loving, protective, dragon-loving dude! He too trusts and loves the Lord though sometimes he has a bit of a harder time then Kyrin because he likes to take things in his own hands.

Marcus and Liam: These two are also so AHHHHHHH but I’ll tell more in later reviews

Jace: OH MY GOSH MY HEART CANNOT HANDLE THIS!!!! JACE IS MY LITERAL CHILD AND HEART AND I LOVE HIM SOOOO MUCH!!!!! Oh My GoSh Ok oK OK I’m good now. Anyway so to sum it up Jace is flat out amazing! He has this SUPER bad/tortured past because he is half-Ryrik which is supposedly really bad because Ryriks are viewed as animals, not people. So Jace has to deal with this past of being treated like an animal/ gladiator, and now people are saying he has a soul! He is a very confused little cinnamon roll! His story is so beautiful because he struggles throughout the whole book with God and wondering if he has a soul. It is a constant battle to find peace, love, and hope and it is so amazing to watch! The character development of this guy is flawless and just stunning! It is SO SO SO beautiful and inspiring!

Rayad: Rayad is really a cool character because he if basically like Jace’s honorary dad. He is so wise and kind and just a really cool guy. Usually older people in books are boring but he is so awesome! He gives wise council to all the younger folk and is like a steady rock pointing to Christ throughout the series! He also joins in the quests and battles which is awesome!

There are so many more AMAZING characters in the book that I will introduce later but these are pretty much the main characters in this particular book!

This book is just awesome because it is so entertaining and fun, but it is also cool because I learned, and was reminded, about so many things about my amazing Lord Jesus Christ!!!

The literal ONLY thing I would critique about the book would be the world-building. The world-building could have been a touch more tactful and explicit but even then it made up for it in EVERYTHING else. It’s such a clean and guilt-free book! It is just like a breath of fresh air in the YA fantasy world!

SO FIVE MILLION STARS TO THIS BOOK!!!!!

There you have it my first review for this series! Also THIS WEEKEND FOR BLACK FRIDAY AND CYBER MONDAY YOU CAN GET THIS BOOK ON  AMAZON KINDLE FOR ONLY 99 CENTS!!!* So go read this book because it is amazing and make sure to tell me what you think!!
