It’s Finally HERE!!!

Hey Ya’ll! So I’m FINALLY here for a review that I’m sure y’all have been HIGHLY anticipating (okay, maybe I’m the one who has been highly anticipating it but that’s beside the point)! Ready??? Okay, here it is, a LEGENDARY BOOK REVIEW!!!! YAY!!!! Are you bursting with excitement yet? Okay, okay, I know, all that build up for just a book that I have been talking about forever, it doesn’t sound exciting, BUT IT IS!! TRUST ME!! Seriously though, ask literally ANYONE I know and they will tell you I have been fangirling SO HARD about this book and now I get to share it with all of you!! Okay, I’ll stop ranting, for now, and get on to the review! Also, though it will be extreamly hard for me to do I will keep this reveiw Spoiler Free because there are some pretty HUGE spoilers and I don’t want to spoil it for ya’ll and then ya’ll be like “well I guess I don’t need to read it now” because YOU NEED TO READ IT! YOU NEED TO EXPERIANCE ALL THE PAIN AND ANTICIPATION I DID *laughs maniacly* no, no really I’m fine, why do you ask?

Here is the blurb:

“A heart to protect. A debt to repay. A game to win.

After being swept up in the magical world of Caraval, Donatella Dragna has finally escaped her father and saved her sister Scarlett from a disastrous arranged marriage. The girls should be celebrating, but Tella isn’t yet free. She made a desperate bargain with a mysterious criminal, and what Tella owes him no one has ever been able to deliver: Caraval Master Legend’s true name.

The only chance of uncovering Legend’s identity is to win Caraval, so Tella throws herself into the legendary competition once more—and into the path of the murderous heir to the throne, a doomed love story, and a web of secrets…including her sister’s. Caraval has always demanded bravery, cunning, and sacrifice. But now the game is asking for more. If Tella can’t fulfill her bargain and deliver Legend’s name, she’ll lose everything she cares about—maybe even her life. But if she wins, Legend and Caraval will be destroyed forever.

Welcome, welcome to Caraval…the games have only just begun.”

ASDFGHJKLASDFGHJKLASDFGHJKL Doesn’t it just sound so EXCITING?!?!?! I mean just AHHHHH it’s just so beautiful!! Okay, you will have to forgive me, I’ll try to get through this review without fangirling TOO much, it will be hard but I will try for you guys. But hey, there is nothing wrong with fangirling!! So this book came out May 29, 2018 and I just finished it a few days ago, so let’s break it down.

The Cover:

I don’t often add the cover in my review but SERIOUSLY LOOK AT THAT COVER!!!! Is it not just the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen? It’s so magical and mystical and mysterious! It is seriously one of my favorite covers EVER! It’s so EPIC AND AWESOME!

The Story/Plot:

Okay, so TBH I actually had a hard time getting into the story in the beginning, so it took me awhile to read it IDK WHY though becasue I have been waiting forever for this book but my brain was just like “haha no, you don’t really want to read this” for awhile there. Stupid brain. But it didn’t take too long before something ABSOLUTLY SHOCKING happened and I was sucked into the world of Caraval again! This book had all the intrigue and mystery as the first, if not MORE! I MEAN SERIOULLY THE WHOLE TIME I WAS LIKE “WHO IS LEGEND???? TELL MEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!” I know now, but I won’t tell you whahahaha! It was so amazing! I truly got swept away into the world of Caraval! Stephanie Garber, once again, wrote so beautifully and wove everything together in just an outstanding way! I was LITERALLY in Valenda, wearing one of those extravigant dresses eating and eating decadent cakes! There were SO many surprises half of the time I was just sitting there like “WHAT?!?!” it was insane. The whole story and plot was just amazing, so well done and deavistatingly beautiful, dark, and lovely.

The Characters:

OH MY GOSH THE CHARACTERS IN THIS BOOK THOUGH!!!! I just can’t even BEGIN to explain my love for them but I will try!

Scarlett and Julian:

Yes my friends we have not heard the last of the dearest Scarlett and the amazing Julian! They are BACK and thier story are not finished yet! They even went through some relationship struggles, which about BROKE MY HEART!! They are just as magnificent as in the first book! Only there was one thing that Scar did that I was just like “REALLY GIRL? REALLY? NO! JUST NO!!” so…..yeah.

Tella:

So honestly I was not looking foreward to Tella being the main character in this book because I didn’t really like her at all in the first book. However, I did fall in love with Tella by the end! She really turned out to be a pleasent surprise and was actually a really cool character!! Like her sister, she was very selfless, brave, and loyal. I loved that about her! It was so cool to watch her throughout this book because she had some trust and love issues she doesn’t like to trust, or love people so she went on this journey of opening up loving once again. She also tried to repair her heart and world when everything she knew came crashing down! I respected Tella very much in this book and grew to love her! The only thing I didn’t like about Tella was how boy crazy she is, or was, and how flirtatious and teasing she is, that I did not enjoy.

Dante:

ASDFGHJKL;ASDFGHJKL;’ASDFGHJKL;’ASDFGHJKL; OH MY GOSH DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON DANTE, OH MY GOSH! I LITERALLY CAN’T, I JUST CAN’T YA’LL!!! Okay, *takes a deep breath* I’m good now, I think. Dante I just can’t even talk about him right now ya’ll. He just, he hurts. Like he is AMAZING but also TERIBLE!! I LOVE HIM SO MUCH but I HATE HIM SOOOOO MUCH!!I’m with you there Tella, I am with you there! He is so dark and mysterious, and just, insane.

Jacks:

WHOA!! JACKS WAS JUST, WHOA! He is just, I can’t even with him either! Now Jacks there is really no love/hate relationship, it’s pretty much just HATE with a little bit of hope. Like I WANT him to be good, even though he is incredibly evil. THERE HAS TO BE SOMEONE TO LOVE HIM AND MAKE HIM GOOD!! He is a REALLY good villain in that way! Like I hated him but wanted him to be good so badly!

LEGEND:

WHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHA the ever elusive LEGEND!! Who is Legend?? Where is Legend?? Bring me Legend! Is Legend a hero or villain????? WILL WE EVER KNOW?? You have to be in agony over the book yourself to find out! But seriously the mystery and twistedness of Legend is just played out SO WELL!! Like it is just AMAZING how well the story unfolds and mysteries get solved AND SOME DON’T!!!! Like I’m just going to be waitng in ANXIOUS ANTICIPATION till next year ya’ll! Legend is SUCH AN AMAZING CHARACTER! Just everything about him the villany, twistedness, hope, heroicness (is that a word? idk but you get what I’m trying to say) despair, maybe a bit of light shown in him is just SO GOOD! He is a great character!

Cons:

Yes, I know I just did a seemingly endless rant about how much I LOVED it but there were some things that I didn’t love, SHOCKER, I know. So one thing I definitly did not love was again how more sexually inclined it was. It hinted at quite a bit and had a seductive air about it. It also went into a little too much detail for my comfort level at some parts that I had to skip over, they were just very cringey. They weren’t too hard to avoid and skip over but they are still there. The whole thing with the fates and destiny and how they ruled everything edged on my personal sensitivity levels just a touch as well. Finally, in all honesty it felt as if some of the magic had left. I know that I just raved about how it was all magical, and it was, but some of the magic that I felt in Caraval did not feel the same in Legendary.

So all-in-all it was an amazing book with a few downsides.

I will give this book four and a half stars
